Overview
Boom is building modern rental financial services from the point of renter move in to move out.
- For renters, we are making housing more flexible, affordable, and rewarding.
- For property managers, we are driving on-time payment, reducing fraud, and growing revenue across the renter lifecycle.
- For fintech and data partners, we are driving engagement and rounding out differentiated and compelling product offerings.
Today, Boom does this through two offerings: BoomScreen (tenant screening) and BoomReport (rent reporting), with the latter delivered as infrastructure via what we call Rent Reporting-as-a-Service. These offerings are architected as modular building blocks at the platform and product level. With Boom, you can use only the services and APIs you want, built on top of a single integration with a property management system (PMS).
The Boom API is organized around REST. Our API has predictable resource-oriented URLs, accepts form-encoded request bodies, returns JSON-encoded responses, and uses standard HTTP response codes, authentication, and verbs.
You can use the Boom API in Sandbox mode, which doesn’t affect your live data or interact with other credit bureaus or consumer reporting agencies. The API key you use to authenticate the request determines whether the request is Live mode or Sandbox mode.
BoomScreen is a robust tenant screening solution for property managers. It enables property managers to reduce fraud, increase NOI (net operating income), and move in the best renters.
There are 3 deployment options available for property management software platforms and property managers to utilize the flexibility and power of BoomScreen:
- Partner user interface (UI)
- BoomScreen APIs
- CRA APIs

Rent Reporting-as-a-Service (RRaaS) is Boom's suite of rent reporting tools. RRaaS is delivered as infrastructure to property managers, system-of-record companies (e.g. PMS companies), and fintech companies to report rent payments to the major credit bureaus.
Rent payments are not typically included in consumer credit reports because rent payments are not reported to the credit bureaus by default. Rent reporting with a credentialed rental data furnisher allows consumers to report their rent payment data to one or more of the three major credit bureaus, thereby establishing and/or building consumer credit history. This can help an otherwise subprime consumer build a stronger credit profile, increasing their access to affordable credit and renting options that run credit checks.
Boom is a creditialed rental data furnisher with all three major credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion).
There are 5 deployment options for companies to report rent payments with Rent Reporting-as-a-Service:
- Standalone API
- Standalone SDK
- SDK + API
- Standalone PMS Integration
- SDK + API + PMS
